The book tells the story of a family navigating the challenges of raising a transgender child, where their youngest, initially named Claude, identifies as a girl named Poppy, forcing them to confront societal expectations and grapple with the complexities of gender identity as they try to support their child's transition while managing the secret within their family and community.
